Project Rivershed
Project Rivershed builds community
capacity, educates the public, and encourages conservation and stewardship
of natural resources, especially salmon and water. It encourages individuals
and communities to reduce their ecological footprint (e.g. energy and
water use) in riversheds to sustainable levels.
We have selected the Brunette Rivershed as our Demonstration Site for
a number of reasons. There has been tremendous work done already in
this watershed, from planning, data gathering and restoration to profiling,
stewardship activities, and more. We are building on existing plans
and work with local organizations to enhance the work that’s underway
and provide an opportunity for new synergies to develop.
During an innovative and pioneering couple of workshops led by Visible
Strategies, using their unique see-it organizing tool,
community leaders were asked to come up with a vision of sustainability
for the Brunette Rivershed. From there, a list of concrete actions was
created.
